BlockHeader Web3 in collaboration with Filecoin Orbit Nigeria recently concluded its 3-day workshop and hackathon which took place from Friday, July 29 to Sunday, July 31, 2022, at CoLab, Kaduna’s first Innovation Hub and Co-working Space.
This is BlockHeader Web3’s first hackathon in Northern Nigeria. The 3-day event titled: Build the Future is in line with the platform’s goal of seeking an acceleration toward web3 education through participation and adoption that is necessary to drive the new wave of innovative solutions.
The event had some of Nigeria’s best minds in Web3 discussing the topic and also developers, designers and enthusiasts who are building or want to build on the blockchain.
The speakers include Chukwuemeka Mbaebie, Lead, Filecoin Nigeria; Babajide Ayoade, Software Developer; Timi Dan, Solidarity Smart Contract Developer; Victoria Enebeli, Developer Advocate Polygon; Abubakar Khalil, Bitcoin Core Developer; Mudia Imaseun, Lead Product Designer, Bloc, David Nnamdi, Blockchain Developer; David Pius, Blockchain Developer.
Day one of the event on Friday, July 29, saw a discussion around Build The Future Hackathon, Downtime by CoLab and Design School to wrap up the day.

Day two of the event on Saturday, July 30, saw Timi Dan take the 1st session on Understanding The Web3 Stack, while Victoria Enebeli discussed the basics of Dapp development – Set Up Your Local Blockchain Environment, Test and Deploy Your Smart Contract on Polygon.

The final day of the event on Sunday, July 31 saw the first session on Towards a Better Ethereum Dapp UX by Mudia Imaseun. He emphasized on the need for product designers to focus more on inclusivity while designing web3 products if it is to gain mainstream adoption.

Another lecture session was presented by Babajide Ayoade on Filecoin and InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) – Maximizing IPFS as a Decentralized Storage Tool in Building Dapps.

Chukuwuemeka Mbaebie also presented on Filecoin’s Efficacy in Decentralized Data Storage,

The final day also saw different teams presenting their solutions with winners emerging.
Team Node who took the grand prize of $500 presented a solution on decentralized ticketing.



Filecoin Adding some glamour to the event organized a short quiz competition that saw winners go home with exciting gifts.
